The Three Fishes

What do they say?

The Three Fishes is back under the leadership of Nigel Haworth of Masterchef, Great British Menu and Saturday Kitchen fame. He has bought staff with him that he has worked with before (as well as some newcomers) to this beautiful venue in the picturesque Ribble Valley approximately 4 miles from Clitheroe. With its own one acre kitchen garden and polytunnel, their dishes range from contemporary to classic British, showcasing Lancashire’s exceptional ingredients, and the best of global cookery, with zero waste at the heart of everything they do.

What did we eat?

There is a choice of a set 3, 5 or 7 course menu with separate daily specials and on this occasion they were hosting an oyster festival, so we went for the Lindisfarne oysters to start with the intention of having a main each from the specials.

The oysters were exquisite and right up there with any I've had before. Nancy opted for the lobster which was so fresh and light whilst I was immediately drawn by the pork ribeye which was stunning. And those chips lead Nancy to the conclusion that they were the best she had ever had. They were superb however I still the think The Jolly Fisherman can still lay claim to the best chips I've ever had.

Having initially had no intention of indulging in a dessert, having seen fellow diners tucking in our customary 'oh we'll just have a look at the dessert menu' resulted in the yoghurt soufflé and lemon meringue pie being demolished in record time.

What do I say?

Having seen The Three Fishes featured in The Times a few weeks ago, it instantly went to top of the 'must go' list. And I wasn't disappointed. This beautiful restaurant and dining rooms are set in glorious surroundings and is worth going for the views alone. The staff were superb and perfectly attentive and it is one of the best places I have eaten at this year. AND they had a Seven Bro7hers beer on too - always a bonus
